COROS watches are built for everything—from everyday runs to the toughest mountain adventures. Arguably the most important purpose, though, is to help you perform better on race day. Whether you're gearing up for a 5K, 10K, marathon, or something in between, we’ve rounded up our best features to help you perform at your peak when it counts.
1. Customize Your Data Pages
The right data can make all the difference on race day. In the COROS app, you can customize up to 6 different data pages with multiple data fields on each, so you always have the info you need, exactly how you want it. Data pages are also unique to each activity mode, so you can choose to see a different set of data for each different activity type you track.
To get started, check out our step-by-step guide to editing your data pages.
2. Use Training Status for a Perfect Taper
Training Status helps you understand if your body is ready to take on big workouts. It compares your Load Impact (7-day training average) with your Base Fitness (42-day average) and places you in one of six categories, outlined below. You can check it anytime on your watch, the COROS app, or Training Hub.
Keeping your Training Status "Optimized", is best for improving fitness, but as race day approaches, recovery takes a priority As you taper, your Training Status should shift from Optimized to Performance, signaling that your body is primed to give its best effort.
Training Status | Intensity Trend Range |
Overreaching | >150% |
Optimized | 100 - 150% |
Maintaining | 80 - 99% |
Resuming / Performance | 50 - 79% |
Decreasing | <50% |
3. Race Smarter with Race Predictor
If it’s been a while since your last race, figuring out your current fitness level can be tricky. That’s where the COROS Race Predictor comes in. Using your recent training data, it estimates your potential race times for the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon. As your fitness improves, so do your predictions, giving you a real-time gauge of your progress.
You can check your Race Predictor anytime—on your watch, in the COROS app, or on the Training Hub. It’s a great tool for setting realistic race-day goals, giving you a benchmark to work toward. Once you’ve set your target, the next step is making sure you execute on race day. That’s where our next feature comes in.
Coaches Tip: The Race Predictor is based on your training data, but for an even more precise estimate, you can calibrate it with a Running Fitness Test. Just keep in mind—it’s a hard effort. Plan to do it on fresh legs and well before any upcoming races.
4. Stay Ahead of the Clock with Virtual Pacer
Chasing a new PR? Virtual Pacer can help you stay on track. Set a goal distance—like a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or marathon—along with your target finish time. Your watch will then calculate the pace you need to hit and show you how far ahead or behind schedule you are in real time. You'll also see your estimated finishing time and how much distance remains.
For longer races, you’ll get progress alerts every 5 kilometers, along with any regular distance alerts you’ve set. If you’re not racing a specific distance but still want to maintain a steady pace, you can use the Virtual Pacer in a different way. Just set a target pace, and your watch will display a virtual runner to show how you’re performing against that goal. You’ll get updates every kilometer (or mile) comparing your actual pace to your virtual competitor.
This simple but effective tool keeps you accountable and focused, so you can hit your goal without constantly checking your splits.
5. Stay Fueled, Stay Fast with Nutrition Alerts
Running out of energy mid-race can derail even the best pacing strategy. That’s why proper fueling is just as important as your training. The Nutrition Alert makes it easy to stay on top of your fueling plan by reminding you when it’s time to take in calories. Just set your preferred time intervals before you start, and your watch will handle the rest—no more guessing when to fuel.
If you forget to set it up before your run, no problem. You can turn it on mid-activity by holding the Back/Lap button, navigating to the Control Center, and adjusting your Activity Alerts. This quick tweak ensures you stay fueled and ready to perform at your best, whether you're running a marathon or a long training session.
Bringing it Together
Success on race day isn’t just about fitness—it’s about execution. With Training Status to guide your taper, the Race Predictor to set realistic goals, and the Virtual Pacer to keep you on track, you’ll toe the starting line with confidence. Custom data pages ensure you have the right information at a glance, while Nutrition Alerts help you avoid hitting the wall.
